Tips to Explore Goa
Goa is a part of 'Dakshin-Kashi' and a hub of beautiful places๐.
If you are planning to visit Goa, it’s always better to have at least a basic understanding of the local culture. This can help you understand the local customs, traditions, and rituals. If you are going to visit temples wearing full Indian clothes is a must or if you are exploring Goa, then you must take advice from the local person as they know better than you do.
If you want to explore Goa here are some tips:
- Visit the Goa tourism department for a more clear idea about the places. Clear your doubts and problems with them. They are welcoming and friendly.
- Staying in a village can help you to explore Goa's unseen beautiful areas that are less crowded๐.
- If you are vegetarian there are Pure vegetarian restaurants in the local area. Ask the local people around you, and also consult local people about the best place to eat.
- Some of the temples provide food, that can help you to save money as well as you will get tasty Goan vegetarian food๐.
- Do not enter temples during your menstrual visit❌.
- Mind that rural markets get close between 7 pm to 9 pm, so plan accordingly.
- If you want to explore the waterfalls๐, hill stations๐, historical temples, and want to know more about Goan culture then we would recommend that visit Inner Goa.
- Follow traffic rules, in absence of traffic police, if you violate any traffic rules the local people might click a pic of yours and send it to RTO.
- Don't show off your romance in public places that may backfire.
- Pay digitally, and carry less cash with you.
- Keep at least one Indian wear with you, or you can buy it.
- India and Goa are safe to travel for any gender.
- Don't swim in the ocean unless you're sure about your skills. If there is a Red flag do not enter the ocean.
- Ask local people for the direction they know better shortcuts than Google does.
- Keep important document images on your device.
- Keep the area clean, don't throw alcohol bottles or any waste anywhere; there are dustbins available. Keep the earth clean.
- Visit Goa during festival seasons to know more about culture, traditions, and customs.
- Kindly follow village rules especially when you are visiting festival seasons in Goa. Here is an example of the Holi festival 10-15 days after the Holi, some rules are followed in Goa. Why?, because, some of the villages in Goa, awake the spiritual invisible energies (creatures & Gods) during this Holi festival, and to be on the safer side villages formed some rules. Here are some examples of a few rules: Do not enter villages after sunset, don't light anything at night (this is restricted to a particular area), and People avoid giving lifts to anyone on the road during this festive month.
- Do add this to your 'do list' in Goa: fishing activity, agricultural activity, Goan dance, and travel on ferry boat/ boat. ๐
